If you’re a person living with a disability, chances are you’ve experienced a variety of obstacles when it comes to getting out and about in your local city. Some of these obstacles can even prevent you from participating in activities altogether, so you stay at home instead.
For some people with physical disabilities, a car is an indispensable aid that opens up many possibilities and can provide a lot of independence in everyday life. But if the car has to be parked far from your final destination, it quickly becomes very inconvenient and not nearly as helpful as it could be.
But with Sensade’s parking solution, finding a disabled parking space can no longer be counted as one of the challenges in Fredericia.
SOLUTION

Sensade has installed sensors at all 96 disabled parking spaces within Fredericia city center. This installation will give Fredericia Municipality a new insight into how the city’s existing disabled parking spaces are being used. This will help evaluate the existing parking conditions to make the city even more accessible for people with disabilities.
At the same time, the data collected by the sensors is available in a new parking app. This allows the city’s drivers with disabilities to see where there is an available parking space close to their destination, so they don’t have to spend time searching for parking or have to park far from their destination.
Accurate parking data provides Fredericia Municipality with a strong basis for both evaluating the impact of parking initiatives and supporting future infrastructure planning.
When municipalities implement changes to parking infrastructure or regulations based on the insights derived from parking data, they can closely monitor the results.
